Advance

The meeting about the meeting.

The backup plan for the backup plan.

The three extra slides or activities you don’t plan to use.

Preparation is never wasted work. The most valuable work we do is often the preparation behind the class or the event or the decision. We thought about it in advance, and that shows everybody involved that we care.

“I anticipated this” is another way of saying “this matters.”

  1. This post matters. Thank you. My favorite advance planning, after some public transit adventures, is to look at projected times on the trip planner, then add half an hour (or more, if I can). I know I need time to get turned around, if not all-out lost! Then I solve that and turn up on time.
