If there’s text on the screen for people to read, don’t read it to them.
If a packet of material was distributed ahead of time, don’t read the material at the meeting.
I’ve become rigid about these rules in the meetings and interactions I lead. Rigid is rarely good.
But am I wrong?
I’d say “steadfast” instead of “rigid.” If someone hasn’t read ahead of time or misses something once, they’ll know what’s expected the second time. I have been in the situation of preparing things like this, and I think of it as trusting my audience to be ready. I hope that helps!
Right…and respectful of those who prepare.
